Southern Sudan (officially known as the Government of Southern Sudan), is located in Africa with Juba as its capital city. It is bordered by Ethiopia to the east, Kenya, Uganda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the south, and the Central African Republic to the west. To the north lies the predominantly Arab and Muslim region directly under the control of the central government, with its capital at Khartoum. Southern Sudan includes the vast swamp region of the Sudd formed by the White Nile, locally called the Bahr el Jebel. The region's autonomous status is a condition of a peace agreement between the Sudan People's Liberation Movement/Army and the Government of Sudan represented by the National Congress Party ending the Second Sudanese Civil War. The conflict was Africa's longest running civil war . A referendum on independence for Southern Sudan is scheduled to be held in January 2011. From Wikipedia under the

How will you name a nonprofit that intends raise money to build a secondary school in southern Sudan? Asked by dbkoreb - Wed Feb 6 21:34:09 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. You are looking for suggestions for the name of this nonprofit? Instead, sit down with all those who are working to make this nonprofit a reality -- I would assume there's a board of directors made up of parents of students for this secondary school, for instance. Ask them to make suggestions for the name. A "home grown" name is much better than anything that could be recommended by those of us who know nothing about this effort. I don't think it will become a separate country since there's been a North-South peace agreement. A lot of people call southern Sudan "New Sudan" Answered by elf2002 - Sun Jul 1 20:37:47 2007 Don't you think we should just build a hospital, schools, etc. in Southern Africa?
Q. Sudans leaders seem to be evil just sending janjaweed murderers out to slaughter so many innocent people & then they don't financially help all the children left behind & forced away from their homes. Watching a skin & bones girl on a Daystar program with comments that we got here too late to save her. When she is still alive. If a skin and bones girl was found in America, she would be put into a hospital if she is still alive. Why aren't these benefits available to these children is southern Sudan? Why just say it is too late to save her? Raf, Southern Sudan then. Asked by t_a_m_i_l - Thu Jul 5 12:07:19 2007 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. On a moral standpoint, I agree with you completely. Watching the innocents die because of the evilness of others is terrible. A lot of places in Africa are in need of SO MUCH. Unfortunately, we can't solve everyone's problems. There is corruption to think about, and you can't just throw money at a situation when the infrastructure is so broken. It is not as simple as you think. If it were, the world would be a much better and kinder place.
