- Nativism (politics) Nativism favors the interests of certain established inhabitants of an area or nation as compared to claims of newcomers or immigrants. It may also include the re-establishment or perpetuation of such individuals or their culture or political nativism, a term used by scholars to refer to ethnocentric beliefs relating to immigration and nationalism
- Psychological nativism In the field of psychology, nativism is the view that certain skills or abilities are 'native' or hard wired into the brain at birth. This is in contrast to empiricism, the 'blank slate' or tabula rasa view, which states that the brain has inborn capabilities for learning from the environment but does not contain content such as innate beliefs is a concept in psychology and philosophy which asserts certain concepts as being natural, hence "native" to a species
