Animal abuse..?
Q. I'm not saying that I do animal abuse (I love my pets!), but what actions are taken as animal abuse, other than the obvious ones (hitting, drowning, etc.)? What actions are considered as animal abuse, that most people wouldn't know that they are actually commiting an action of animal abuse?

Tied out on a cable getting no attention for days on end. Allowing small children to "play" with them without adult supervision. What are some good websites to get information on animal abuse?
Q. Okay so for school, we have to do orations. They're a really big deal and have to be eight pages long. A. I'm in agreement with you, Cliff. Cats and dogs are carnivores. I don't care if you can find taurine in eggs, they aren't meant to eat eggs. That's why I'm going to get a rescue pig. Not only will I be helping out a pig that was rescued from slaughter, but its slop-friendly piggy butt is going to enjoy veggie scraps :)

And in response to those of you who say that humans are in need of more help as opposed to animals needing help, I say you need to read "Animal Liberation," by Peter Singer. Q. i have a problem...ok...its a lil complicated but here goes: i live on a farm that is owned by my mom's employer. i used to work for her too and would feed and water the animals and stuff (there r sheep (hundreds), chickens, geese, and ducks). but then she 'fired' me cuz she said i was feeding the animals too much grain/hay/feed, and so now basically the animmals go hungry often and are pretty neglected, bcuz the employer has difficulty finding the time to even go feed/water them. so basically, since i stopped working, the animals r suffering. and i cant talk to the employer cuz everyone is tellin me she will get mad and fire my mom, my mom says she doesnt care and its not a problem cuz she doesnt want to b fired, and meanwhile all the… [cont.]

animal *ABUSE*?
Q. There's a 10th grader in this school who is a total snob, monster, and spoiled brat. She's also extremely shallow, and has several lackeys following her around. Vicious dogs at that. She brought her hamster to school and stuck it in her backpack pocket, which also has pens and pencils in it. She also left the poor animal in her locker w/out food or water. The girl treats it like a toy, and passes it around her friends. We tried telling the V-Principle, but he didn't care much. He only took the animal away and gave it to the 1st grade for a little bit, then returned it at the end of the day. Not only that, but apparently it didn't teach her a lesson. The girl brought it to the school festival today [the heat excruciating] and another child… [cont.]

I want to write to my government officials about animal abuse laws. to whom should i write?
Q. I have an assignment to write to a government official about an issue i have strong feelings on. My topic is animal abuse/testing and how i feel more and stronger laws need to be put in place to protect animals. To whom should i write about this. I want to write to someone as "high up" as i can while still hoping to have someone who cares. I live in Kansas if that makes a difference.

A. Write to your state representative. Animal abuse laws are, for the most part, creatures of state law. Some states have tough laws while in other states animal abuse is not taken too seriously. In Kansas, laws start with your state representative. (Not too many people write to their state reps, so there is also the advantage that your letter might get his or her attention.)
