Q. Please don't link me to the website, i've been on it and im deadly serious about considering it! I just need to know about Fitness levels, pay, if i can join at the age of 16 ( with a parents consent), how many GCSE's i need and what would i be learning in it ( i already know of the gunning, some it and getting to go out with the Infantry and also they also fight with guns and rifles). If anyone knows this i'd be so greatful! I supported 2 RA regiments. Ist and 3rd RHA (I was a medic.) on their tours in Ulster. They were fairly fit and lots of of their time was spent keeping fit. The thing that made them different from the infantry battalions I have soldiered with was the amount of Bulls**t they were capable of . It may have been just the times I was with them and things may well be different now but going 15 - 20 feet up ladders to paint a hangar ceiling? That's bad! That said they were efficient in their role of patrolling the Belfast streets and seemed to appreciate the support that we gave them. They were all very fit! When we had a major incident involving serious injuries they performed well and we didn't need to panic.
