Where should I visit, by state, on the cross country trip I am planning for next year?

A. Mandates are arbitrary and sometimes found to be unreasonable, but they are useful political tools to motivate needed action. The mandates for higher percentages of energy to come from renewable sources are constructive goals, and the escalating costs and sometimes debilitating shortages of available power should provide further motivation to modernize all of our energy production and distribution systems. For far too long, the environmental costs of our power systems have been "externalized" -- debiting Earth's accounts to enrich our own.
