In a democracy or other political system run in the public interest, it is a public force. In North American English military is common as a noun -one can talk about "a military" or "the military"- but in British and Commonwealth English it is normally used as an adjective -one refers to "a military force" or "military organization". Q. I guess that this varies from MOS, but I was reading some question that people posted and one of them was about military and someone wrote that the military usually doesn't work 40 a week. He was comparing the military life to the civilian. Is this true? And if so, how many hours do military active member work per week? Asked by SPC - Tue Apr 7 17:10:41 2009 - - 16 Answers - 2 Comments A. LOL...military doesnt work 40 hours a week... no... they work LONGER. 6:30-7:30 PT 0900-1700 duty hours 9 hour days IF youre lucky because most units keep you until between 1800 and 1900... and if youre ramping up for deployment or youre out in the field then you are working twice that. Also take into consideration the 12-24 hour duties such as CQ and Staff Duty... Also take into consideration those that dont work regular duty hours such as Firefighters and Military Police... who often work 12 hour shifts...not including PT, weapons draw, guard mount, and paperwork. And lets not forget the actual deployments... where you could be out in the middle of nowhere on a mission for weeks at a time and the only sleep you get is 30 minutes… [cont.] Answered by Stevie - Tue Apr 7 17:21:29 2009 Looking for military veterans to invest in a business that supports the military? Q. i want to get into the army, but i have asthma. i would like to start a military / security type career . is there a way i can get the training and preparation a solider would receive in the us armed forces. someone told me to check out mercenary or private military contractors .2 questions >1. how do i become a mercenary or a private military contractor ? and 2. is there any other military type careers out there ? Asked by ANIMAL MAN (A*M) - Sun Jan 25 16:45:16 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. Unfortunately alot of "mercs" won't take someone with asthma. Blackwater and a few other contractors won't touch you unless your physically fit. If your last asthma attack has not been within the last 5 years, you may be eligible for the military. You will have to get a cardiopulminary exam by your own physician and submit that paperwork to your local recruiter. To be honest with you, most recruiters will brush you off, so make sure you follow up if the above is true. If you still have asthma and take an inhaler, unfortunately you will not be fighting.
