A military is an organization authorized to use force, usually including use of weapons, in defending its country by combating actual or perceived threats. As an adjective the term "military" is also used to refer to any property or aspect of a military. Militaries often function as societies within societies, by having their own military communities, economies, education, medicine and other aspects of a functioning civilian society. The profession of soldiering as part of a military group is older than recorded history itself. Some of the most enduring images of the classical antiquity portray the power and feats of its military leaders. The Battle of Kadesh in 1274 BC was one of the defining points of Pharaoh Ramesses II's reign and is celebrated in bas-relief on his monuments. A thousand years later the first emperor of unified China, Qin Shi Huang, was so determined to impress the gods with his military might that he was buried with an army of terracotta soldiers. The Romans were dedicated to military matters, leaving to posterity many treatises and writings as well as a large number of lavishly carved triumphal arches and columns. In the modern era, world wars and countless other major conflicts have changed the employment of the militaries beyond recognition to their ancient participants. Empires have come and gone; states have grown and declined. Enormous social changes have been wrought, and military power continues to dominate international relations. The role of the military today is as central to global societies as it ever was. From Wikipedia under the

However I was wondering ruffly at what percentage does the Israeli military use the US military's gear, weapons etc? Do we send over our own stuff for them to use ie M16, planes, bullets, bombs. Do they use their own military inventions of some other countries? Asked by Golden - Sat Aug 28 21:36:13 2010 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Here's the equipment they use. A lot of their normal infantry weapons and ground vehicles are made by them selves but planes and such usually are bought from the US. Q. If a group of 100 people are considered either military enemies or hostile civilians, how many of them have to be armed (by estimation) in order for the group to be considered a legitimate military target? Asked by aeiou_i - Sun Mar 14 07:56:45 2010 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. "Legitimate" is not the right way to approach this situation. "Law" is not the framework for which we operate in this context. Hell, if 100 out of 100 have weapons on them and are clearly hostile...we still might not engage them if we think it will set our war-fighting effort back. Bad guys have families too, and when we kill an enemy, we are killing someone's son, someone's brother, etc. Their family turns against us, even if the killing was totally 'legitimate.' The two doctrinal words that are appropriate are "proportionality" and "distinction." "Distinction" basically means that we will strictly scrutinize our targets from things we do not want to destroy. Let's use your example: if only 1 of that 100 people is an 'enemy',… [cont.] Answered by Rock Or Something - Sun Mar 14 08:42:34 2010 From Yahoo Answer Search: "Military" Factory Made (Season 2): Knives
