Q. I think it's a rank or a title. Just trying to find out a bit about my grandfather. Their website is He was in the 5th. I'm not even sure what war this was, I think it was the Vietnam war. I didn't even know he served, he died when I was nine though. Thanks very much, I've seen SP4 and SP3 also, just wondering what it all means.

Q. Could paramilitaries like the Irish Republican Army and the Ulster Defence Association be considered to be secret societies?
Asked by Blah - Fri Apr 16 14:34:46 2010 - - 3 Answers - 1 Comments

A. One person's secret society is another person's patriot group! The Committees for Correspondence in the First American Revolution days were both! Depending on who you asked. The IRA and the UDA are presently paramilitary organizations not beneath using terror as a weapon. Let's all hope and pray that the Good Friday Concord holds in the new Irish confederation and the far fringes, IRA and UDA cease fire and use ballots not bullets.

Is a little bit of Socialism really that bad?
Q. In case you didn't know: The following are all doctrines of "socialism": - Medicare - Social Security - Team work (Team work is the backbone of communism - Lenin) - Police - Fire department - Roads & Highways - State & community colleges - Public schools - Neighborhood associations (lawn care, public pool etc) - Army - Ellections ... etc... I know not all of them are run by the federal government, but they are all programs for the better of society where some people use it more than others even though everyone is supposed to contribute the same.
Asked by Tawani - Sun Aug 16 09:56:23 2009 - - 20 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Socialism isn't bad if it is about the welfare of the population. In terms of welfare and helping people it can be an incredibly good thing. It can be bad though if it becomes nationalist socialism (fascist) or authoritarian (where the government decides everyone must think the same and as told or they are severly punished). The mistake people make is linking fascism and authoritarianism with socialism because they don't have to be the same thing

A. Read Frank Kitson's 'Low Intensity Operations'. The views of a very successful counterinsurgent commander should give a helpful alternative insight. You might also look at the history of the IRA in the War of Independence, and of the Cuban Revolution, to complete your insight from the insurgents' side. However, even if you are nothing more menacing than a budding author, look out for the spooks, who will have read this post with great interest!

Is U.S. Army General John Philip Abizaid a TRAITOR because he is a Muslim?
Q. This election has taken the cake. The Republicans have repeatedly insinuated that because of Barack Obama's family, his education or his up-bringing, that he is a Muslim or a closet Muslim and therefore, that supports the idea that Obama is a traitor, is disloyal or that he is a terrorist. We have seen how guilt by association with Ayers has been used to attempt to create doubt about the loyalty of Obama. My questions to you: How many of you think all Muslims are traitors and terrorists? How many of you think that the 3 million Muslims we have in the United States are traitors and terrorists? How many of you think that even a U.S. Army General like John Philip Abizaid, who was U.S. Army Assistant Commander in Iraq is a traitor and… [cont.]
Asked by Jim - Sun Oct 26 10:12:14 2008 - - 12 Answers - 2 Comments

A. No. There is nothing wrong with being a Muslim in the United States, and no ones loyalty should be called into question over their faith. What we have been witnessing is the resurgence of the politics of fear, many people still fear that which they do not fully understand. The same type of politics which allowed the current Administration to usurp huge amounts of executive power, curtail once valued personal freedoms, and even drag us into a war without question...The problem is, the politics of fear have won elections in the past, so we will witness it again until Nov 4th.

A. These are all very specialist items. You would be best to take them to an auction house. Usually a company such as Sothebys will give valuations for free and they have the expertise to know their true market value. I've seen the Nazi Pattern army dagger sell for prices between 15 and 200, depending on the blade, the mount, any inscription etc.

Since the Christian President left the goverment , US Army says attacks in Iraq are at lowest level?
Q. Baghdad a u.S. military spokesman in Iraq says attacks have dropped to their lowest levels since August 2003. Maj. Gen. David Perkins told reporters Wednesday in Baghdad that the decrease in attacks comes as the U.S. downsizes its operation and Iraqi security forces increase their presence. President Barack Obama has announced the withdrawal of combat troops from Iraq by the end of August 2010, leaving up to 50,000 U.S. soldiers to train Iraqi forces. Currently there are more than 135,000 American troops in Iraq. Perkins says attacks have decreased from 130 a day last year to 10 attacks a day this year. He also says since the height of the U.S. troop surge in 2007, attacks against civilians have decreased by 90 percent. The Land… [cont.]

A. Just tell that dealer that you are finished with them and walk out. Go to another dealership. It sounds to me like they are trying to rip you off or that they just dont care. Just don't conduct any business with them further. Now on another note, be careful on how many times you have inquiries on your credit. remember, under federal law, they cannot do a inquiry without your permission, and they have to have your social security number to do so. so keep that in mind. Too many inquiries on your credit report in a short period of time is not good. Your FICO score takes a hit each time there is a inquiry, thus, can hurt you when it comes to financing

Q. I'm an Officer Candidate in the Texas Army National Guard, I came home over 2 weeks ago to find out via email that my former employer not only fired me but refuses to give me my last paycheck...and after reviewing an email that contained my "timesheets" they emailed to me- I noticed that they had been falsly altered without my knowledge.
Asked by kelleyburks - Mon Jul 7 13:24:11 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Your dismissal was illegal, so long as you complied with USERRA's rules about giving your employer formal written notice of going to training. Withholding your final paycheck is also illegal, as is altering your timesheet. I would suggest that you contact your unit's attached JAG officer - he will be familiar with the law and will be able to advise you. Charities and environmental organizations are, far and away, the worst violaters of USERRA. They tend to be run by left-wing liberal 'tree-huggers' who simply don't want to be around military personnel. Richard
